Stages Theatre Arts: Spotlight (Ages 14 to 18)

What is Spotlight?

Spotlight is the next step after Main Stage — a focused, higher-level training class for 14–18 year olds who are ready to deepen their craft, strengthen their technique, and work as part of a company with real creative ambition.

This weekly two and half hour session is where performers start training with greater detail and intention: developing stronger acting choices, more confident vocal work, sharper movement and stage presence, and the ability to collaborate like a true ensemble. Sessions are practical, challenging and supportive — designed to help young artists grow not only in skill, but in confidence, discipline and artistic identity.

Taste the professional world.

Led by qualified artists, teachers, industry professionals and visiting specialists, Spotlight creates a high-end, professional environment where students can explore different styles and approaches; from musical theatre and text-based drama to screen-style performance, devised work and character-driven storytelling.

Whether your young person is aiming for further training, auditions, leadership opportunities, or simply wants a space to create at a higher level, Spotlight meets them with the right balance of encouragement and expectation.

Just like a real training theatre company, Spotlight works towards a performance or production at the end of every semester.

Students experience the full process — rehearsal, refinement, problem-solving, and performance — building the kind of resilience, teamwork, communication and stage discipline that lasts well beyond the final curtain call.

Spotlight supports young artists to develop:

  • Advanced performance technique and confidence under pressure.
  • Stronger vocal delivery, character work and storytelling skills.
  • Stage presence, movement quality and performance stamina.
  • Ensemble collaboration, leadership and creative responsibility.
  • Audition confidence, professionalism and self-belief.

Spotlight at Stages Theatre Arts:

The step up into serious training — where young performers grow into confident, capable artists ready for whatever stage comes next.
